When I asked Triumph if they had a bike laying around that I could borrow for a track day, I was not expecting to get a crystal white 2012 Daytona 675R.
I picked the bike up from Anaheim around 10am, and rode it almost nonstop until 9pm. I rode from Anheim to Angeles Forest, to Malibu and back to Santa Monica. There were parts of my body that were a bit sore, but I did not want to stop riding it. I will never grow tired of the Triumph Triple ( inline three cylinder).
The 675R is equipped with Ohlins suspension, 4-piston Brembo monoblock calipers, Brembo master cylinder and a quick-shifter (full throttle clutchless shifting). It is so important to have confidence in your tires. The stock Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires, gave me the confidence to ride the bike more aggressively than I normally would on the street, while maintaining a level of control that I was very comfortable with. Because of the type of riding I was doing (canyons, switchbacks, sweepers) I appreciated the stiff suspension. As I expected, the Daytona was aces on the track, but this machine is a true race bike for the road, and is a total joy to ride.
I'm not sure if I am going to be able to live without the quick shifter. It's fantastic, and the fact that it is on a street bike, seems to make the sun shine a little brighter.
