I made some new friends this past weekend. One of the women I had just met, looked at my helmet and asked, "Do you ride a motorcycle?" I smiled and said, "Yes." Then she said, " I rode to Stergis once...on a bicycle."
She went on to tell me that she had heard about a "bike" rally in Stergis, South Dakota. So she thought it would be a great trip to plan for her Christian bicycle group. She said it was 3000 miles round trip.
I am not sure how she was able to plan such a detailed and elaborate 3000 mile bicycle trip, without finding out that it is actually one of the biggest motorcycle rallies in the world. Regardless, when they were about 300 miles away from Stergis, they started noticing a lot of motorcycles on the road. But they did not know what was going on until they stopped at a t-shirt stand on the side of the road, and saw a shirt that read, 'If you can read this, the bitch fell off.'
I told her that was one of the best stories I had ever heard, and begged her to send me some pictures. She has not sent them yet, but as soon as she does, I will be sure to share them with you.
