Women and Money: Top Mommy Blogger Interviews Financial Coach

Are you a woman that feels isolated, confused and powerless with money?  Would you just rather not deal with personal finances and hope that things end up "working out" in the long run?  You get headaches with piling up credit card statements, making 401(k) investment decisions at work and increasingly more frustrated while running out of room in your closet for your shoes?

While my mother being a nurse, plenty of female cousins to witness and my own daughters to raise...I feel the pain!

With the evolution of women in the workforce and the business world, no greater time has it been more apparent that women and the subject of money become less frightening.

Last year was a significant year for women as it relates to money and our economy.  Here are some significant facts with the state of personal finances for women.

  • It is estimated that 50 percent of women between the ages of 24 and 35 have less than $500 in savings.
  • Almost 1 in 4 women are broke within two months of a husband passing away.
  • 53% of women are not covered by a pension compared to only 22% of men.
  • More than half of senior citizens living in poverty are women.

Jill Seiman, a top mommy blogger from NYC, interviewed me during a "speed dating" interview session between myself and other financial coaches during the launch party of The Invested Life personal finance reality show.

I thought it was fitting to finally share this footage as season 2 of The Invested Life begins this Wednesday!  If you'd like to catch up on past episodes from season 1, I've posted the webisodes here.

Here were some of Jill Seiman's questions:

Why was it important for me to partake in The Invested Life?

What would your advice be for my female readers?

What challenges do woman have in reaching towards financial independence?

As Jill posted on her blog last October after the launch party, keep in mind this quote.  "It's your money, it's your life and no one should care more about it that you!"
