What a career for Shonie Carter.
After 13 years in MMA Shonie Carter is finally calling it a career. Following his 5th straight loss, Carter ultimately decided he had a great run in the sport and it was time to officially hang them up after losing to Jeremy Knafo at Israel FC: Genesis. However, with that loss and being on the losing end the last few times, that doesn't tarnish what Carter did for the MMA community for so many years.
Ultimate Fighter 4
With Chris Lytle, Matt Serra, Patrick Cote as being the future stars of the show, Carter was not known and struggled early in the show with the training and fitting in. As the show progressed so did Carter as he improved every week and even made some enemies on the show. With all that going Carter also introduced the spinning back fist to Matt Serra and shocked the world when he defeated him after being down 2 rounds. Carter also introduced a flashy style of dressing and the way he presented himself before and after fights.
Shonie Carter was known as "Mr. International" for being all over the globe and his love to fight whomever and wherever. Carter was looked at the master of walkouts with many different presentations such as woman with his title belts, costumes, and just bringing the unexpected to the table each time he fought. He never failed to disappoint when he stepped onto the cage floor and always looked to make somebody laugh, even if it was only one person.
With a 13 year career in MMA Carter has gathered a plethora of stats and numbers can be deceiving for Carter, who did what he loved for many years.

Being from Chicago, Carter has represented the city well not only throughout his career but showed the world why you should live life to the fullest. I'm sure Carter isn't done with MMA all together as he would make a great coach for future fighters and a great motivational speaker.
Carter was on the losing side of things the last few times in the cage but it still doesn't take away the attitude more fighters should carry with them throughout any given day. Carter is a great representative for the sport and MMA will always know him as his other nickname "Mr. Spinning Back Fist"
