My husband and I were watching a rerun of SNL this weekend and out of nowhere there was a Polish joke. It wasn't funny. He laughed. I didn't.
*Gasp*
I actually got a little peeved at him. I mean, who the hell laughs at a Polish joke when his wife is purebred Polack? Oh wait, I'm not supposed to use that word, am I?

Seth Meyers: A new book called Columbus: The Untold Story claims that Christopher Columbus was not Italian, but actually the son of an exiled Polish king. Well, that would certainly explain why he missed India by 15,000 miles.
OK number one that joke was really subpar. And why the hell would they need to resort to a Polish joke? It came out of nowhere and added nothing but some lame attempt at humor. But that's almost beside the point. I get that we all need to laugh at ourselves and take it easy. So I'm not here to attack SNL for their ridiculous choice in humor. I'm here to internet slap my husband who decided it was funny to laugh at the joke while sitting right next to me.
Does he not realize that the only sex he's getting for the.rest.of.his.life is from me? ME=A Polish woman. Clearly his head is not on straight.
Maybe SNL should write a joke about a guy who doesn't even know his ethnicity and then I could laugh at that. Or single dads. That's always funny. A Single dad changing diapers in the car with poop all over his face. *Chuckles*. OH you didn't like that reference? Wasn't funny? Neither was the Polish joke. *Smiles*.
I'll be the first to admit that I am lousy at directions and would marry my GPS if the law allowed. But to degrade my ethnity by calling me stupid? Pssh.
Husband you are in the dog house for this one.

Author's note: I totally would have laughed at the joke if it wasn't targeting Polish people. Jokes about Italians are SO much funnier.

As far as Polish jokes go this one is fairly innocuous. I've certainly heard worse.

...while Polish jokes are bad [especially here in Chicago]...the Canadian jokes are horrid nation-wide.
After a while, I just started making myself laugh at them too.

Somebody at that Anti-Polish Hate TV-Network NBC-TV is bashing Polish people with subhuman intelligence jokes about Polish people. Oh excuse me I must be politically correct and call them "Polish jokes" because that's what the Anti-Polish Bigots at NBC-TV called them when they introduced them into the US in the 1960's.
For the record I don't like ethnic jokes against anyone since they degrade people.
But there are many Polish Americans like myself who joke about NBC-TV for being the NAZI BROADCASTING NETWORK of America for its DECADES of bashing and bashing Polish people with these subhuman intelligence jokes. What did Poland or Polish people ever do to NBC-TV?
Seth Meyers is nothing but an Anti-Polish Bigot Jerk.
Polish-Hater Lourne Michaels was probably egging on Seth Meyers to trash the Polish people the way Amy Poehler was trashing the Polish people. But I'm sure Seth Meyers has a healthy anti-Polish Bigotry on his own. NBC-TV Anti-Polish Bigots I'm sure like hiring people who have their same Anti-Polish prejudice.
Its quite simple, as NBC-TV Polish-Hater George Schlatter told the Polish American Guardian Society years ago, "Me and my TV network have the power to destroy the image of you Polish and I'm going to do it". Fortunately NBC-TV has gotten slack from Polish Americans over the years so they couldn't bash the Polish people as much as they wanted. But Polish Americans have to keep after these Left-Wing Nazi Anti-Polish NBC Bigots who think they are God because they control mass media.
Sadly your husband doesn't seem like he's too bright or aware that TV networks do have their own biases and prejudices and that there is a REASON why these slurs against Polish people are on these TV shows. They are meant to condition as many viewers as possbibe to have the same anti-Polish prejudice that the NBC Polish-Haters have.

And speaking of husbands, MY husband is extremely intelligent and actually works for a television station producing his own show. I wouldn't bad mouth him or you'll get an earful :)

Thank you for allowing me to express myself (and the sentiments of other Polish Americans like me) on this topic on your blog. My viewpoint would probably be too politically incorrect for conventional media to handle.

YOUR head is not on straight if you stay with someone who bothers you. It's YOUR job to confront things, not sweep them under the carpet. Why should he get "sex for the rest of his life" if he laughs at who you are?
