Most Expensive Alcohol

The price we pay to get inebriated.

Today I found our priciest alcohol at the liquor store. It costs $599.99 (we have two of them if you're interested).

It got me thinking...how much are people willing to pay to get intoxicated?

  • You need to shop at better liquor stores.

Surely, a decent liquor store would have a bottle of champagne or wine or scotch or cognac worth more than a gimmick bottle cognac.

Or I can just buy the cheap stuff ;)

sadly I will never know what it feels like to purchase a $600 bottle of alcohol, let alone a $1 million dollar one.

  • In reply to limpdo:

If you're into good cognac, try R

  • In reply to Bry7:

A 40- or 60-year-old scotch (assuming it was good to start with and was preserved correctly) would be way more expensive than "a c-note or two."

The Macallan 25 starts at $600.

  • In reply to EJXD2:

THanks ejx! now...you gonna help me drink one of those?

  • In reply to JMilk:

Are you buying with all your mega blog bucks?

  • In reply to EJXD2:

ha, too bad I don't get any mega blog bucks yet
    :)

  • In reply to EJXD2:

Oh I just saw the second half of this comment...these expensive finds are just through my internet research, I have yet to find them in a liquor store. As for the $600 dollar bottle of Cognac...the bottle is painted by an artist that passed away in 1990 and is a collector's item, not a gimmick. The best liquors store offer the full run of items...from the cheap..to the luxury :-)

  • In reply to JMilk:

My point was that the bottle isn't worth what they're charging, my point is I wouldn't really call it expensive liquor since in this case you're obviously paying for the packaging more than you are what's inside.

I guess the same can be said for Remy Martin's Louis XIII cognac with its jeweled glass bottle for $2k+, but at least in that case it is recognized as an ultra premium cognac.

The best liquor stores are nearby. :)

  • In reply to EJXD2:

nearby as in where? My family is actually in the liquor business. we have a liquor store/deli/bakery in Chicago...and my uncle has a liquor store/bar also in the city on Elston. We apparently love our alcohol in this family?

  • In reply to JMilk:

Nearby as in down the street rather than across town.

I live in Lexington but will be Chicago bound in August for the Arlington Million. By then you'll have plenty of mega blog bucks no doubt.

  • In reply to EJXD2:

Let's hope you're right EJ. My livelihood depends on it. :P

  • In reply to JMilk:

As does my ability to enjoy the finer things in Arlington Heights
