As the most recent polls show the Democratic race for governor deadlocked, both candidates were making last-minute push for voters.
Comptroller Dan Hynes and Governor Pat Quinn both spent Sunday morning at predominantly African American churches - visiting a total of 15 across Chicago.
But it was Hynes who reached out this weekend to the gay and lesbian voters with a stop Sunday night to Sidetrack in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood.
The two candidates disagree when it comes to marriage equality. Hynes supports gay marriage while Quinn has said he would only support civil unions and not gay marriage.
Quinn's communications director Elizabeth Austin told ChicagoPride.com last week, the governor supports civil unions only because he believes it can pass. While Quinn has said that he believes it is possible to pass civil unions legislation within a year, he doesn't think it is likely that same-sex marriage legislation can pass anytime soon.
The primary is Feb. 2.
