I'm gonna be (500 miles -- and 500 posts)

To celebrate the appearance of this, my 500th post here on Margaret Serious, here is my own version of the words to "I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)," originally recorded by The Proclaimers. For those not familiar with the tune -- or the original words -- I've provided a link to video of my favorite version of the song by Caledon, Scotland's tenors.

[Verse 1]
When I wake up, well, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who wakes to write to you.
When I go out, yeah, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be looking for ideas for you
I won't get drunk, 'cause I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna need to be alert to write to you.

And if I haver, yeah, I know I'm gonna be,

I'll be the one to define havering to you.

[Chorus]
But I did write five hundred posts
And I would write five hundred more
Just to be the one who sent a thousand posts
To your computer's door.

[Verse 2]
When I'm workin', yes, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one who's writing things for you.
And though no money comes in for the work I do
I'll save myself a lot of pennies writing, too.
When I come home (when I come home), oh, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the one at home who writes to you
And if I grow old, well, I know I'm gonna be

the one who grows old writing things to you.

[Chorus]
But I did write five hundred posts
And I could write five hundred more
Just to be the one who wrote a thousand posts,

and -- who knows? -- hundreds more!

[Post-Chorus]
Ta-da-da-ta, (thousand posts!), ta-da-da-ta
Ta-da-da-dan-te-la-dan-te-la-dan-te-le-la-da-da
Ta-da-da-ta, (thousand posts!) ta-da-da-ta, ta-da-da-ta
Ta-da-da-dan-te-la-dan-te-la-dan-te-le-la-da-da.

(If you tried the video first, you wanted to see how I'd spell that, didn't you?)
