Blind Date tells of the relationship between United States President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev, in 1985. It's a rather political comedy filled with satire.
Their conversation in a secluded room was filmed, only allowing interpreters to be present. Their wives, Nancy Reagan and Raisa Gorbachev, had conversations of their own, discussed over dainty cups of tea.
I was in high school or was a graduate in 1985. The only thing I remember about President Reagan was when Michael Jackson visited the White House, wearing his infamous sparkling glove, not taking it off, to shake the President's hand. I thought it was disrespectful but who cared about what I thought.
As far as Gorbachev, I remembered him as the "man with the red patch on his head" and that was it. I didn't know anything about his intentions or his thought about the United States at that time.
However, it appeared that Reagan and Gorbachev got along somehow. Considering the political times we're in now, Blind Date may resurrect some memories in those who remember what happened then, comparing it to what's going on now.
