Loyola Ramblers vs UIC Flames
Gentile Arena --- Chicago,IL
February 11, 2012
The moment we all have been waiting for is here. Well, maybe this game shouldn't be hyped up too much considering it's comprised of the two worst teams in the Horizon League, but regardless, Chicago college basketball is back in Rogers Park and the Ramblers look to even up the season series with the Flames today at 1:00pm. UIC took the first contest at their home, UIC Pavilion, in a nail biter that finished 58-51. Fast forward about a month and here we are - Loyola still winless in conference play.
This also marks the first visit to the new Gentile Arena for UIC head coach Howard Moore and his team. If the fans show up, Moore will get a taste of the hostility Gentile presents.

What to watch for: Keep a close eye on Jordan Hicks and Joe Crisman. After missing the first quarter of the season then getting off to a slow start Hicks is gaining confidence each game and looks to be back to his old self. Crisman, a freshman, is playing far beyond his age and gels well with Hicks. Coupled together in the past six game, the two guards account for 23.2 ppg and a 43 percent average from behind the arc.
Ben Averkamp F 6'8" 13.7 ppg
Walt Gibler F 6'7" 13.0 ppg
Jordan Hicks G/F 6'6" 7.5 ppg
Joe Crisman G 6'4" 8.9 ppg
Denzel Brito G 6'2" 6.4 pgg
Daniel Barnes and Gary Talton both torched the Ramblers from three last meeting also are in the top 15 for scoring in the Horizon League (11.2ppg for both)....Big man Darrin Williams is a threat on the boards averaging 6.6 rpg and 1.5 block per game....As a team, UIC enters today's game as the league leader in offensive rebounding.... UIC has not won an away Horizon League game in their past 24 tries, which dates all the way back to Feb. 27, 2009....Flames lead the all time series 30-17, however, the Ramblers have the hot hand having won 4 of the past 5 meetings....15 contests have been decided by five points or less, adding to the intensity of the rivalry....Loyola needs to guard the perimeter tightly playing a UIC that averages 6.7 made threes per Horizon League game.
