Do you have a mantra?

Do you have a mantra?

I believe that in life there are lessons to learn and situations to encounter, but I still control my path and my fate. I can decide how to respond to the situations by either learning from them or feeling defeated. There have been times in my life when I wallowed in self-pity and refused to learn from the circumstances of my life, and other moments when I felt that I had no control and that others were defining the experience of my life. I hoped and prayed for some miracle to change my life, instead of taking action. Recently, I heard this quote that I later learned was said by Anderson Cooper; he was quoted as saying, “Hope is not a Plan.” I love that phrase so that is my new mantra. Even though it often feels like every time I take one step forward, I get pulled two steps back, I do keep moving forward. I keep reaching for my dreams. I will still keep hope in my heart, but follow a plan in my head.
