Originally produced by The American Cereal Company, Quaker Oats has been in business for over a century. They are and have always been headquartered in Chicago, which may be why you'll find a number of Quaker Oats ghost signs around the city.
Ghost signs for Quaker Oats can still be seen on buildings across the city. So far, all signs could possibly be over a century old, given the age of the buildings that they reside on:
- 1504 North Wells Street in Old Town (building built in 1891)
- 1964 N. Halsted Street in Lincoln Park (building built in 1881)
- 2349 W. North Avenue in Wicker Park (building built in 1882). This sign has graffiti over half of it now, but here is how it looked when it was first uncovered in 2008). Interesting, because it appears to actually have remnants of two different ghost signs for Quaker Oats.
- 3841 W. Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. This sign has faded a lot, but it certainly must've read Quaker Oats.
