I found it difficult to root against the Celtics on Monday. Is that weird? Yeah, I'm a terrible Bulls fan. Maybe, I hate the Knicks more than I love the Bulls, but a bit less than I love the Celtics. Oh well, I loved Kevin Garnett dunkin' all over Ronny Turiaf:
"Orlando's strength on the interior was too much. Brandon Bass had his moments, Ryan Anderson had 12 and five rebounds in just 19 minutes, but let's get real, here. All the 'here would they be without him?'crap you hear about Derrick Rose? It's meant for Dwight Howard. Because without this man's dominant 28-point, 14-rebound, four-block, four-steal night, Orlando loses by 25 to the freakin' Cavaliers. Derrick Rose may lead my favorite team to a championship this year, but I'm not daft enough to overlook Howard's MVP season."
Rudy Gay, done. He needs shoulder surgery. I love this Grizzlies team and it's a damn shame that in, what'll probably be Zach Randolph's last year there and maybe Marc Gasol's, everything stacking up against them making a playoff run. The Hawks, 76ers, and Knicks will give the top East teams hell in the first round of the playoffs -- I won't deny -- but the Grizzlies would be a #5 seed in the East in any of its divisions.
Like I said, a damn shame. As frustrating as they are at many times, Memphis has been one of more fun teams to watch all season.
LeBron's Q scores are improving. No matter what your feelings on the Heat, his decision, his clowning, bear in mind that -- as far as we know -- he isn't a bar brawler, doesn't drive drunk, and doesn't beat or rape women. For him to be anywhere near the top of any most hated athlete list is as disgusting reflection of our society's values. A reflection that ought to never be viewed as a virtue and always as a vice.
In not-news, Kobe loves Fish and hates Smush Parker. When asked what he missed about playing with Derek Fisher for the non-great Lakers years, he responded: "You mean when I was throwing to Smush? I shot with three motherfuckers on me. That's the difference. Now I only shoot with one, maybe two."
Keith Smart's goin' out with a bang, benching Stephen Curry.I'm a defense-first non-denier, but holding Curry to 20 minutes is ridiculous. From a risk:reward standpoint, why risk frustrating Curry by not firing a coach now that there's no little reason to keep for next year? The Warriors have done well this year and Smart's a good coach, but the squad just isn't 'generally managed' for him.
Eddy Curry, Antonio Daniels, Rafer Alston, Mike James, Devean George, Darius Miles, Chris Richard, Anthony Johnson. Da'Sean Butler, Larry Hughes, Jamaal Tinsley, Jerry Stackhouse, Michael Finley, Ime Udoka, Ronald Dupree, Adam Morrison, Bobby Simmons, Joe Alexander, Antoine Walker, Mikki Moore, Sean Williams, Shavlik Randolph, Morris Peterson, and Kelenna Azubuike.
Larry Brown wants to coach again. As for what situation would be right for him, he said: "I don't know. You know a lot depends on the school and where it's located and what its chances are being successful. If you can coach one-hundred games in the NBA you can coach thirty-two in college. I think the way my clock ticks...I really love practice. I really love being with kids. I think the opportunity to teach is really there on a college level because you have so much time to prepare. The fact that you coached in the NBA and also in college is a big plus. Most kids you recruit all think they're going into the NBA. That is their goal, so I think if you have that experience it's never going to hurt you. Again it would have to be a special situation with somebody who would trust me. You know we'll see, but for the time being now I'm a fan just like you."
