Joakim Noah left practice early on Tuesday with "flu-like symptoms" and could miss the Bulls (47-18) game against the Wizards (16-49) in the evening, K.C. Johnson reported at the Chicago Tribune. With Carlos Boozer out, still nursing an ankle sprain, could we see Omer Asik and Taj Gibson starting with Kurt Thomas coming off the bench?
Boozer Out, 'Flu-Like Symptoms' Make Noah 'Gametime Decision' vs. Wizards
This wouldn't be inconceivable. Though, Thomas has started when needed over Omer and Taj, the reasoning is largely to keep the bench bigs together for more shifts. The Wizards aren't big, so smaller lineups of Luol Deng, Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver/C.J. Watson, and Derrick Rose playing together with Omer or Thomas could be expected, if Noah doesn't play.
Honestly, that's a big 'if,' but the flu's the flu.
All of that said, K.C. speculated Taj would start with Thomas.
Every game just got more serious with the Bulls in a tie with the Celtics for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The teams in the fourth-through-seventh seeds getting stronger and remaining threatening as the playoffs come closer, so wins need to accumulate -- especially against terrible teams, as the C's and Heat schedules are also packed with awfuliness.
