I've been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 20 years now and I've come to accept it as something I'll never get rid of. You can talk about cures, but I talk about technology. As long as we're moving forward with computer chips and gadgets, life will get a little easier to live as a person with diabetes.

I live a normal life in Chicago, where I was born and raised, and I love music. I also bleed Cubby blue. I've found writing to be my ultimate calling and started kikisbetes.com a few months back because I realized I had to help educate a community that knew little or nothing about diabetes. I'm a very involved Latina and I hope that this blog become educational, inspirational and always, always entertaining.
