There is a new restaurant that recently opened in Oak Park called Obsessed Kitchen and Bar. It is owned by Dan Vogel and his wife Trish. They took over the space formerly owned by Kinderhook on the corner of Oak Park Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The inside is decorated with pictures of famous people and globes. It has a warm, cozy, relaxed vibe. The restaurant was fairly crowded the night I was there with many families and small groups. The staff was very helpful and attentive, rare sometimes for a newly opened restaurant.
Obsessed Kitchen has an excellent drink menu with a fabulous wine and beer selection, along with a few house made cocktails. I had the Mezzalito which was delightful and my friend had the By.Ott Rose which was outstanding.
Now to the best part- the food! The menu offers shared plates, salads, entrees, a kid's menu, and desserts. We shared the burrata and Parmesan truffle fries. The burrata came with perfectly toasted crostini, marinated tomatoes, and capers, it was delicious. The Parmesan truffle fries were amazing. We decided to share a salad and a couple entrees too.
My group had the farm greens salad which consisted of mixed greens, sundried cherries, blue cheese, spiced walnuts, and a fabulous balsamic dressing- excellent choice. We also tried the OKB burger which came with cheese, pickles, and onion, along with the Parmesan truffle fries. It was honestly one of the best burgers I have had. The last item we tried was the chicken Milanese. It was a huge breaded chicken cutlet topped with arugula, tomatoes, and lemon and olive oil, also delicious.
The kid's menu looked like the best deal in town- $5 for all you can eat including a drink for kids 12 and under! Some of the choices are sliders, mac and cheese, pot stickers, and chicken tenders.
Obsessed Kitchen and Bar is open Tue- Thu: 3:00pm- 10:30pm, Fri-Sat: 3:00pm- 11:30pm, and Sunday 4:00pm-10:00pm. They are located at 800 S. Oak Park Avenue.
If you are looking for a delicious meal with a corner gastropub feel, look no further than Obsessed Kitchen and Bar. It is family friendly and perfect for hanging out with friends. After the experience I had- it might make me obsessed!
