Ghost Stories and More at "Haunted: A Speakeasy Seance Salon"

"Draw your chair up close to the edge of the precipice and I'll tell you a story."

--F. Scott Fitzgerald

For some creepy pre-Halloween fun in Chicago go to 2601 W Leland on Monday, October 29. (It's near the Rockwell stop on the Brown Line or the Lawrence bus.) Knock on the door on the Rockwell side, and give the password "Nevermore." That will gain you entrance to an eerie evening of entertainment.

  • From 7 PM to 8 PM will be a tarot card and ouija board hour.
  • Starting at 8 PM ghost stories and creepy songs will be shared salon style. I will be there sharing a little something I wrote for the occasion.

There will be spiced cider and other treats, but you need to "bring your own whiskey." Guests are invited to come dressed for the occasion. The organizers recommend you look to the work of Edward Gorey for inspiration.

The suggested donation for the event is $10 to benefit  The Viola Project, a charity that aims to empower girls through the performance of Shakespeare.

I hope to see you there. Until then, pleasant screams dreams.
