For the month of October Listing Toward Forty is Listing Toward Halloween, featuring a variety of Halloween posts including many by guest authors. This post is by Julie Hammerle and is the much requested follow up to Rico Gagliano's Halloween costumes for men with glasses.
“They” say that guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses. “They” are idiots. Girls with glasses are hot. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
That said, most of the women with glasses in popular culture are either brains or nerds or old ladies. It’s hard to find any straight up sexy ladies with glasses. Except Ruth Bader Ginsberg, of course.
I think Alex Vause from Orange is the New Black is a good example of a sexy four-eyed lady. She’s smart, but she’s not a nerd or a member of the AARP. She wears glasses because she has to and everyone is fine with that. I’d go so far as to say maybe the glasses make her more attractive. They set her apart from the rest of the prisoners. Perhaps the popularity of that show and that character will signal a sexual renaissance for ladies with glasses on TV. The world will be better for it.
Now, a major issue with wearing a costume when you also have to wear glasses is that your prescription glasses don’t always match the costume. In fact, you might have to choose your costume based on the type of glasses required for the look. So I’ve tried to find you ladies a bunch of different looks sporting a range of different kinds of glasses. From thick framed to wire, from reading to nerdy, scroll down to see some of the best costumes for bespectacled ladies.
According to Klout, Julie Hammerle is an expert in the areas of both Morgan Freeman and glasses. Her writing can be found at Hammervision on ChicagoNow and you can holler at her on Twitter (@juliehammerle) as well.
