Daenerys Targaryen, Babywearing Mother of Dragons: A Game of Thrones Variant Costume

Daenerys Targaryen, Babywearing Mother of Dragons: A Game of Thrones Variant Costume
"WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?! Oh, Gymboree. I have time to run to Whole Foods."

Since I shared a list of easy costume recommendations it only seems fair that I share my costume this year.

I was Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, but I wasn't a regular GoT khaleesi. (I haven't had the body to pull that off for a while.) Instead, I was Daenerys Targaryen if she were a modern, babywearing mother of dragons (i.e. a khaleesi of Lincoln Park). I wore a Daenerys wig, a wearable baby carrier, and three dragons. One dragon had a sippy cup.

This did break one of the cardinal rules of Halloween costumes in that it often needed to be explained, but the Game of Thrones fans who got the costume REALLY got it. The impressed and amused reactions from serious fans made the quizzical stares from those not familiar with George R.R. Martin all worth it.

In other news, the phrase "reached behind my dragons" is now a euphemism for getting groped by a stranger at a party. Trick-or-treat, indeed.

Happy Halloween!
