"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. If you can dream it, you can do it. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them," declared Walt Disney. As our family splurged on our recent Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise getaway, we stumbled on many special moments albeit some stressful ones, but they inspired us to rattle off favorites each day that fell in three buckets: good people, experiences, and entertainment.
Just as Walt Disney sets high standards of excellence, people can strive to be their best selves. Big shout out and thanks to my husband, who planned and budgeted for our Disney adventure. He organized the Fast Passes to maximize our fun at Hollywood Studio and booked excursions on our cruise. We met fun families and welcoming Disney team or crew members from around the world.
Our family returned to the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando and admired the beautiful giraffes, zebras, pelicans, and natural lizards on property. We love its African safari theme. My husband got us tickets to a glow stick night at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on our first night. Our six-year-old just cleared the minimum height for the epic rides and water slides that we all raced down. While their Dad and our oldest surfed in the Tidal Wave pool, my youngest and I lit up the beach with our dance moves.
I reminisced about how my Dad braved Space Mountain with my siblings, cousin, and me at the Magic Kingdom in our childhood. Fast forward, my husband led the charge toward Hollywood Studio's Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roll Coaster staring Aerosmith and Slinky Dog Dash. Our brave six-year-old squeezed my hand during each ride. The Indiana Jones stunt show and Beauty and the Beast performance wowed us.
We learned about Disney's Conservation Fund as we fed the sting ray off Castaway Cay, also known as Disney Island in the Bahamas. My husband taught our boys to snorkel. We caught our breath on the Disney Dream cruise ship as we watched their newest movie Aladdin with Will Smith.
Although the sun beat down on us, low clouds swept in daily like a canopy for gentle rain showers with a soft breeze. As we smiled with Disney characters ranging from Chip 'n Dales to Goofy and partied like pirates, we remember to not take ourselves too seriously. As the boys and I belted out the Frozen movie's "Let It Go" song lyrics under the stars our last night, we felt empowered under the magnificent night sky to face our challenges and do our best. Why ruminate and let fear win?
Each of us tried something new on our recent Disney adventure so the lesson resonates from Rapunzel of the Disney movie Tangled that played at the pool, "Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it." Any Disney lessons that speak to you or memories this sparks? XOXO
