LGBTQ Connection: Facebook and Beyond

It's been a long time since I settled down to do any serious blogging, but I'll trust my instincts and let these entries take me where they want to go.

It was fairly recently that I contacted my co-administrator on our LGBTQC Facebook page and asked her what she thought about launching a Twitter feed. Then came this blog. Now, I can't seem to stop the deluge of new ideas for our group that once upon a time was nothing more than a social stop along the Facebook road. We have nearly two hundred members in our Facebook group, from Chicago and all over the world! I have high hopes for us.

A friend posted a link on Facebook from a blog many people probably have heard of, called Single Dad Laughing. Single dad Dan Pearce chronicles his life experiences as, what else? A single dad. More than that though, he's an incredibly intelligent blogger, and has a lot of thoughtful insights into life itself. His post, titled "I'm Christian, Unless You're Gay," touched me deeply and even brought tears to my eyes. I feel like this is an important article to share, because while I founded the The LGBTQ Connection for women in the LGBTQ community, it's not my desire to exclude anyone. Whether gay, straight, bisexual, trans, intersex, asexual, or how about: just human, I hope you'll find this space filled with love.

I'm working on a concept for a second Facebook group that would a safe social space for men in the community, no matter how you identify, so guys, don't think you're going to be limited to the Twitter feed or the blog.  Just be patient with us. We have some wonderful concepts we're working on! Stay tuned.

Until next time,

Alissa Black
