A Tribute to Whitney Houston

whitneyWhitney Houston was the lady with the astronomical vocal ranges; she was an American singer and actress whose first four albums, released between 1985 and 1992, amassed global sales more than 86 million copies; propelling her into the world of Super Stardom. With her passing in 2012, the music world lost one of its most legendary stars. Although, Whitney Houston is no longer with us her legend lives on through her music.

Belinda Davids is a singer from South Africa who is keeping Whitney music alive by singing some of her greatest songs in ‘The Greatest Love of All’ tour around the country. For a one night performance, this past weekend at The Rosemont Theatre Belinda paid tribute to the powerhouse Whitney Houston singing well over 15 songs non-stop (except for wardrobe changes) to a pleasing crowd of die-hard Whitney fans for 2 hours.

I Have Nothing, I'm Every Woman, My Love Is Your Love, All The Man That I Need, I'm Your Baby Tonight, So Emotional, How Will I Know, You Give Good Love, Didn't We Almost Have It All, Saving All My Love For You, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Waiting To Exhale ‘Shoop Shoop’.

Just like Whitney Houston who was beautiful classy and gifted with an unforgettable voice that changed how we heard ballads, Belinda Davids is brilliant, beautiful and talented with a comparable voice that touched our souls. I promise you if you were to close your eyes you would swear that Whitney Houston was performing LIVE on stage singing her countless #1 hits. Davids doesn’t just sing her songs she sang her songs from the depth of her well-being, embodying Whitney’s spirit.

However even with your eyes opened you were in for a treat at this tribute concert. Davids delivered with her stellar singing voice and high energy that had you up and 'Dancing with Somebody" throughout the night.

If you are a true Whitney fan, you are very critical when someone takes on the challenge of trying to sing the iconic figure songs. Ms. Davids singing voice spoke in volumes of any doubters when she took on the much-anticipated song ‘I Will Always Love you’ by hitting every note which closed out the show with a standing ovation.

Thank you, Belinda Davids, for blessing us with your POWERHOUSE voice!!!
