The Purdue Boilermaker baseball team has just broken a ‘Cubs-esque’ streak. They have won the Big Ten Conference regular season title for the first time since 1909. No. 13 Boilermakers defeated Iowa 11-8 Thursday evening to earn the title outright.
The Big Ten, being a weak conference for baseball, only has Purdue (41-10) as a top 25 ranked team. The Boilermakers are showing no signs of slowing down. Wrapping up a great regular season, Purdue has the talent to do well in the NCAA tournament.
On top of their success on the field, Purdue is playing their last season in Lambert Field as the new $10.2 million Alexander Field will be completed in time for next season, a great selling point to keep Midwest talent from moving south. Congrats to Purdue. Boiler up!
