Indiana’s men’s basketball team is 9-0 after Christian Watford’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer to top No. 1 Kentucky 73-72. The win marks the first time Indiana has beaten a No. 1 ranked team since they upset Duke 74-73 in the 2002 NCAA tournament.
With the win, the Hoosiers are 9-0 for the first time since the 1989-90 season and one step closer to having their first winning season under Tom Crean.
Indiana and Illinois now remain the only undefeated teams left in the conference, which begs the question: are the Hoosiers back? You bet they are! You may say it’s too early for this talk, but looking at the rest of their schedule, it’s not out of the question to predict a 23-25 win season for the Hoosiers.
Crean has also done a great job preparing his team for the future with five recruits signed for next season, three of which are ranked in ESPN’s top 100. Keep your eye on the Hoosiers for the rest of the season and maybe in years to come!
