Hey guys! Glad you found me!
Yes, La Princesa de Pilsen is back on ChicagoNow.com! Thanks so much to everyone that has supported both blogs. It's been such a blast writing and making videos about my work and getting your feedback. I am planning to bring you guys more interviews, vlogs and giveaways while on the road. I have gotten the travel bug and am back and forth travelling, doing art, visiting friends and celebrating life and learning a lot about patience and budgeting. I am in town this week and even after being gone for a little while I already can not wait to check out 2nd Fridays. I hope the Chicago weather holds up there is a ton of art, music and shopping this weekend; its the GTL of Pilsen.
I will admit that I don't partake in the Podmajersky galleries too much, I'm still a little bit of a Pilsen snob. Ok a lot. But I just love it when all of the timeless independent galleries along 18th St participate. The abundance of talent in Pilsen keeps it one of the most energizing neighborhoods in Chicago. And the shopping is addictive. Guys bring your girlfriend to Pilsen and buy her something pretty. She will love you for it. I will be getting my vintage splurging in at Comet and Knee Deep Vintage. Knee Deep will be having their midnight sale at 1425 W 18th St. from 6pm -Everything in the store is 25-50% off and free refreshments. Sales and free food? Don't mind if I do.
Amorcito Corazon is another event this weekend that you don't want to miss Saturday at Xicago Studio. 2005 S Blue Island. Doors open at 8:00pm and there will be music by Rick Casteñedo & Sammy Torres, Gonzalo Cordova, Eduardo Garcia, Bill McKay, Jesus Rojas,
Ernesto Tapia and Hugo Treviño. That's a ton of music for ten bucks.
This Friday and Saturday I will be working on my Anti-Violence Art Tour in Pilsen and need volunteers. Anyone interested in posing please shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Check out new new vlog below with footage of me chillin in Grand Rapids, MI with ridciulously tatlented Chicago Afro-beat Project. And on Sunday February 12th be sure to stop by the first solo exhibition of an extremely talented young artist James Green. "Beta Eyes" is a series of video, performance, and sculpture that I can't wait to dive into. I will be there, posh as ever at ACRE Projects 1913 W 17th St.
