Tragedy In Newtown, Connecticut

I am taking a break from my Christmas posts and I ask that all of my readers pray for the victims families. I am not a mother, but this does not mean that it affects me any less. For the past hour I have not been able to stop crying and feeling terrible, that something like this could happen when we should be looking forward to the holiday breaks coming, spending times with our own families and hearing the laughter of those little munchkins as they run around the dinner table.

Instead, there are 26 families that have to bury their loved ones and try to cope with try to put the piece of their lives back together.

This morning as I was on my way to work today there was a shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary school today. So far the reports say 20 young children and 6 adults are dead.

Columbine was one of the first tragedies I had ever heard of with a school involved and since then incidents like this have gotten far too frequent and far too dark.

You are going to hear cries for more gun control, but would that have changed any of these tragedies? Instead of crying for more gun control we should cry out for more laws that do not allow people like this to obtain guns. We need laws that will keep our children from harm.

My prayers are with the 26 families that have lost loved ones and with every family in and around the community of Newton, Connecticut. I am truly sorry for your losses.
