Calling all Soul Train Dancers and white uncles who can't dance. The SOUL TRAIN Photo Exhibit has arrived at Expo 72, located at 72 E. Randolph, across from The Chicago Cultural Center. Presented by the Chicago Office of Tourism and Soul Train Holdings, take your groove thing down memory lane and view the 56 fabulous images and archival footage from the iconic Soul Train set.
It is so much fun to see photos of Chaka, Gladys, Aretha, Diana, Elton, Marvin and anybody who was anybody, performing on the show. This is a unique collection from a show that ran for an amazing 37 years .
It is also fitting that Chicago is the place for the first showing -- the city where it all started before moving to Los Angeles. The show was taped on top of the Board of Trade building on LaSalle Street and broadcast by WCIU-TV, THE U.

"Friday Night Groove" is beginning tonight, July 29, and running through September 2 from 4 to 6pm. Guest DJs will bring you back to the sounds of Love Unlimited, Tower of Power, James Brown and Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes. I miss Teddy Pendergrass, don't you?
As I walked through this cultural treasure trove, I could hear the rich, resonant voice of host and creator, Don Cornelius, providing the perfect backdrop for dancing under the disco balls.
Admission is free. Bring your dancing shoes.
Multi-colored bell bottoms and Afro wigs are optional.
