For the record, I am tired of the Jussie Smollett case and I likely won't write about it again. The Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson turning the case into his national press tour was unprofessional.
Johnson actually flew to New York to appear on Good Morning America followed by appearing on CNN. My question to Johnson is: Who paid for your trip to New York? Your hotel stay? Your lunch and/ or dinner in New York? Did GMA give you anything like a gift or a gift card? Television shows like GMA will usually give a guest spending money, a limo and more.
Did Superintendent Johnson benefit from the Smollett case? Did the CPD waste money on his trip to New York when he could have done a satellite interview from the ABC 7 Chicago studio? If he spent his own money, why would he spend his money to fly to New York to talk about a case where others in Illinois and other states only received community service for police hoaxes? Did he want that national publicity that bad? I know Jussie Smollett lawyers would have brought this up. Maybe, it is time for members of the Chicago media to bring it up and ask for receipts.
