10 Steps to Ending 2012 Healthier Than You are Right Now!

Ten days until the end of 2012.  End the year right.  It is not too late.  Start right now with some exercise.  I am serious.  Read this and then do it!  Today, after the last word on this blog do one rep of each of these exercises.   Then tomorrow simply do two.  I realize it is the holiday, but who cares.  Everyone has a few minutes to become healthier and offset all the amazing food that is being consumed.

This is a simple top ten list of exercises that can be done anywhere.  Even if you are out of town at your new girlfriend’s house for the holiday , hosting or simply swinging by your mom’s, you have 3-10 minutes to do this every day until the end of the year.  This series of exercises are the basics of body weight training. You cannot go wrong with the list.  Make sure you add one rep of each exercise every day.  I promise you will feel like you are starting the New Year one step ahead of everyone else.

  1. Jumping Jack
  2. Squat
  3. Jump Shot or 2 foot vertical jump
  4. Push up
  5. Mountain Climber
  6. Sit Up
  7. Dip
  8. Lunge on each leg
  9.  Plank Hold ( the up position of the push up, 10 seconds, then add 10 seconds every day)
  10. Sit and Reach (10 seconds, then 10 seconds for every day)

    I would add that the single biggest improvement anyone can make in their health is to stop eating wheat. Period. The wheat of today is not the wheat of our grandmother's. It has been changed by scientists to the point that the actual protein in the wheat is different and behaves like an opiant. It is addictive, causes people to eat more, (400 calories more per day, on average), causes constant inflammation (putting one at high risk of cancer) because the body does not recognize the artificial protein and treats it as a foreign object. There are dozens of of other health problems wheat causes, but the first two things people notice when they stop eating wheat is, A) they feel better almost immediately, and B) they lose weight.

    I stopped eating wheat on September 4, 2012. I felt better that first day. Since then I've lost 31lbs. My motivation is much higher, I'm not hungry all day, and I feel so much better. I'm not alone, Google Wheat Belly, it's a book (and free blog) by Dr. Davis. You don't have to buy anything, you can learn all about it on his blog or many other websites, but I would also recommend the book, there is more info there and a long list of safe, gluten free foods you can eat without all the problems wheat causes.

    Seriously, modern wheat is a poison, stop eating it and you'll be shocked how much better you feel.
