Olympic Fever, 5 questions with answers

The Olympic Games of 2012 will take place from July, 27th to August 12th.  Then Olympics has offered the world some of the best displays of athletic skills and competition for over 2700 years.  This year the 2012 Olympics will host 205 nations, which will take part in 300 events.  In preparation of the upcoming Olympics, I thought it would be fun to know the answers to 5 great questions that will make you look very informed about the games when water cooler banter begins in a couple of weeks.1.  How many people have actually carried the Olympic torch? The Olympic torch has been carried in the Torch Relay by 3,529 people and travelled 3901.57 miles. 2.  How many athletes in total will compete in the 2012 Olympic Games? About 10,500 competitors will be focused on a medal this summer. 3.  How is London paying for the Olympics? Most cities that submit to host large worldwide events have enormous private funding behind them.  Although a huge portion of the financial burden falls on the public, this year's Olympics will be funded by the London citizens and its private sponsors in an amount of over $8 billion.  This includes building the venues, infrastructure and the redevelopment of the Lower Lea Valley.  In addition, there will be another $4 billion for security, policing, the Paralympics, and odds and ends.  Despite how big this number becomes,  London's Mayor Ken Livingstone is preaching that the games will make the city money in the long run.  The private sector is naturally contributing to a large portion of this cost.  But we also cannot forget the sponsorship, sellable rights and broadcasting.  In a snapshot look, 64% of the money will be coming from the Central Government, 23% from the National Lottery and 13% from the Mayor and city. 4.  Who are the sponsors of the Olympics? Procter and Gamble (Head and Shoulders, Bold, Gillette, Pringles), Cisco, Freshfields, Coke Cola, Twirl from Cadbury, McDonalds. 5.  How many summer Olympic Sports are there? The 26 Olympic sports at London 2012 will be:
