Piff The Magic Dragon will be performing at the Chicago Improv this weekend. If the name doesn’t immediately conjure up an image of a grumpy-yet-hilariously-entertaining-English-comedian dressed in what looks like a handmade dragon costume—who performs magic tricks with his doggie in tow—then you may have been living under a rock. The London native, who also goes by John van der Put, rose to fame as the stand out star of season 10 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent earning high praise from judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern before reaching the top 10 in the finals.
Since earning some fame on AGT and Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us,” Piff has made Las Vegas his home, where he wows audiences with his residency at The Flamingo casino on a regular basis. When it comes to Piff, think Larry David in a dragon suit who performs jaw-dropping magic tricks and you’re on the right track.
With over 12 million YouTube hits to his name, Piff has performed to hundreds of thousands of fans in iconic venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe, the O2, London and Sydney Opera house. His one-man show has had five record breaking runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, two sellout seasons at SoHo Theatre in London’s West End, a national tour of the UK and Australia. Previously, he was the opening act for Mumford & Sons on their 17 date UK tour and has just completed a six month residency at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in their flagship show Vegas Nocturne. Currently, Piff is on his "The Dog Who Knows" tour making his way to different cities bringing fans a whole new show.
Piff stopped by the studio to fill us in on what audiences can expect to see during his new show and kept us laughing! Press play for full interview.
