Sorry about that, but (as long-time readers may recall), I had (supposedly) transitioned out of writing this, handed the reins over to Gordon, and then he opted out (we're both currently writing other Chicago Now blogs, of course), and we didn't have a ready new voice to hand The Job Stalker over to ... and while we were looking, this sort of faded into a death-like state.
I really wish I'd be able to tell you that I had "landed" in some swanky new job and that everything was unicorns farting cotton candy, but no ... so I still do have a lot of my attention focused on things around the job search. Today, I clicked on a link in some LinkedIn group's alert email, and found myself reading a post that was substantial enough that I've blocked out time to reanimate the blog to pass it along.
It's by Laszlo Bock, who is an HR muckety-muck at Google (has he seen one of my resumes? Dunno.), and is a follow-up to another very good post (which he links to) that I'd seen over on LinkedIn. This is The Biggest Mistakes I See on Resumes, Part 2: Your top 8 questions and I highly recommend it ... not only does he have good info in the post itself, but he also links out to a lot of other interesting/useful stuff (including a mention of his upcoming new book, that I'm hoping to hit up his publisher for a review copy for my book-review blog).
Anyway, just wanted to get this out there ... if there's still anybody following The Job Stalker.
Oh, and if you feel YOU would like to be "the new voice of the Chicago job search", let us know ... this was one of the handful of original blogs on the Chicago Now platform, and I'm pretty sure all and sundry would like to have it keep going (in a more active mode than it's exhibited over the past couple of years).
