The Chicago Film Critics Association will be hosting their 24th Annual Awards Presentation on Saturday, February 9th at Muvico in Rosemont. I have had the pleasure of working with a small group of volunteers on this project and will be hosting some red carpet interviews as the celebs arrive to celebrate.

Jane Lynch is being honored with the Comedia Extraordinaire Award. Jane is a hometown girl and many of her family members are going to be cheering from the VIP section.
Columbia College Chicago will be receiving this year’s Big Shoulders’ Award. The Big Shoulders Award is given to a Chicago organization that has supported the arts and the film industry. Kartemquin Films, Facets, the Chicago, Latino and Children’s International Film Festivals have been past recipients.
George Tillman and Robert Teitel, graduates of Columbia College, will accept the Commitment to Chicago Award. The team formed Menagerie Films and have produced and directed a number of movies in Chicago. Nadine Velazquez will be presenting the awards to Columbia College and Tillman and Teitel. Nadine is also an alumna of Columbia but audiences will remember her recent role opposite Denzel Washington in Flight.
Mark DeCarlo is this year’s host. Mark can be seen as a correspondent for Windy City Live and heard as the voice of Jimmy Neutron. Mark is also a native of Chicago and is putting together a Blues Band for the show with some of the town’s top talents.
Joe Piscopo will bring his unique brand of humor to the Muvico stage, turning the tables on the critics and giving the awards show a comedic edge. Joe will join Mark in the musical arena.
Tickets are $50 and VIP tickets are $99. Muvico’s restaurant BOGART’S, will offer a champagne plated-dinner with the stars stopping by for an additional $35.
