Touch and Go

Touch and Go
In his crazy-eights youth, Steve would toss off his marital status as “separated- Janet’s in the suburbs, and I am in Chicago.”  Ha Ha. Fast forward 30 odd years, and that joke becomes our truth. Except that he is in Pompano Beach, and I am in Chicago. With strategic blending. This is a blending week,... Read more »

Got it!

Got it!
Here is my pickle jar- not so grand as the image I attached to my last post- but adequate for my purposes.  $ 5.00.  That seems high, right? It came with a carrying handle that Steve and I were unable to affix.  Then we both wondered why anyone wanted to carry pickles.  Or why I... Read more »

Child of Mine

Child of Mine
Steve was resolute: one child.  I was resolute: two. I won.  And then some. My second child was engineered to be a girl, and yet he stubbornly resisted my kitchen chemistry machinations.  He burst into our life in 1983.  He was not like Pat- calm and self contained. He was stubborn, finicky and time intensive.... Read more »

Waiting for a Baby Dahl

We are counting the days. In October, we will welcome our second grandchild. Mike and Kathryn have their baby's room ready. Girl/boy? Who knows? (the ultrasound tech only)We shall see!
The Dahl family is growing!  Mike and Kathryn are having a baby in early October, and in their honor, the sisters and sisters-in-law had a shower.  OKAY- the poor girls were rolled over by my notion of a themed “Mother to Bee” theme.  They were powerless to extinguish my Pinterest fueled ideas. Because everyone is... Read more »

The Main Event

When I went to bed on August 20th, the weather bug informed me that there was an 85% chance of thundershowers for Kathryn and Michael’s wedding day.  Truth told, this news did not keep me awake.  Only the photography would really be affected by such a development, and I have seen very creative photographs of... Looking back...

The week since the wedding evaporated without any details from me except about my crafting.  I apologize.  After a year of planning, previewing, looking forward- the vacuum is enormous.  I wanted to give details, but I didn’t have good pictures to illustrate the days with.  Plus, I just wanted to marinate in the joy that... Thoughts after the wedding

We have been anticipating the wedding of Mike and Kathryn for more than a year.   For weeks we have chased last minute details.  The phone has hummed with Mike to Mom questions, or Mom to Mike instructions.  We have buzzed with activity, and now there is an eerie silence.  The wedding weekend has... Showering Kathryn with love

We are now in the throes of Matrimonial Madness.  The invitations for Mike and Kathryn’s wedding have been mailed, and I tease them that it is too late to back out.  We have had a tasting for the reception, and selected linen covers and chair ties.  Flowers are selected.  Steve is in charge of finalizing... Happy Birthday, Mike

Let's hope....
Pat Dahl works for the Blackhawks, and he has been traveling like crazy, so we shoe horned our birthday celebration into the pre-game slot Sunday.  I can read stress on Pat’s face- he is nervous as a cat in a coyote’s cage.  A bit of family time was just the balm, and Mike’s Friday birthday...
