Christmas Magic, Phase 2- entry inside

This will be a place for my Christmas mess to be edited and presented.  New today:  Front hall.

I am going to travel through the house, and show you as if I was leading you through.

The front hall is not a big job...but it sparkles.  I use leaves encrusted with gold and silver glitter to catch and reflect the light.  Since this is one of very few spots that gets light from outside, I like to shimmer.  I just buy a spray of glitter encrusted stuff at Joanne's or Michael's, and deconstruct them. They are on sale for 1/2 off now, and I just bought a few more for next year.  Dollar for dollar, they make the biggest difference in any room.  I use them on all the mantels, in my trees, and in my Santa display.  I adjust the glitter level for the surroundings:  Santa gets only greens, but the tree and mantels need to pop.  You'll see.  Stay tuned for another day.

  • I love looking at the pictures of your Christmas decorations!- and seeing them reminded me that last year you put together a list of decorating tips to help those of us who are "decorating challenged". I saved and printed them last year and they have truly helped me. I aspire to someday have a home that is as beautifully decorated as yours. Happy Holidays!
