Heya, I ... :::stretch::: ... apologize for not having a bunch of posts up here lately. Been kinda busy trying to not melt into my shoes and saving the garden from slow, brown death. Can't salt that out of your veggies.
I've been getting more and more emails from band reps lately -- it's kinda like when I was contracting for eHow and got to see all the creepily TMI phrases you guys type into search engines late at night. What I mean is that people are making some extremely weird things lately that not everyone gets to hear.
But these kids stood out even before I found that they were a Chicago band. Gold Motel has a nice, bright sound that still rocks. It's soulful, but not at the expense of duel guitars (and not mass-produced). This groove is just right for summer.
As for the song above, it's got great rhythm and she's got a cool voice to drive it.
Their new self-titled album drops today (7/3/2012). This is Gold Motel's second record, following 2010's critically acclaimed (by Spin, among others) Summer House.
They'll also be at Schuba's on the 26th of July. So go. Do that thing.
