Cults "You Know What I Mean" Live on SiriusXMU

Cults (no "the"). If you look them up on YouTube, you'll find plenty of She and Him also suggested on the right rail. The similarities are obvious: girl-fronted band bringing back classic kinda sounds -- it's sorta soul, sorta bluesy, sorta... well, timeless. Both gals have great voices (the reason I chose this cut). But where She and Him go in the way of old standards and bubblegum pop (that's not a knock, I like them), Cults add a bit of ambiance and spacey shimmer that wasn't quite there before. I haven't listened to a lot of them yet, but it's definitely on the radar. Plus, you know, cute lead singer.

  • Should have also mentioned Jenny and Johnny. Another super duo (Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and Johnathan Rice of himself) with a retro sound. They would be the folk version.

  • looooooooove this song...

  • In reply to lila8517:

Kinda reminds me of Rilo's "I Never," perhaps? Really dig the passion in her voice -- it's vulnerable during the verse and then yelling out for just a lil' compassion. Awesome.
