Reverend Jesse Jackson organized and led a protest on State Street Sunday afternoon. Several hundred people assembled at State and Van Buren to protest the shooting death of Laquan McDonald and the alleged cover up of the incident.

The march proceeded north on State to Randolph and ended at the Thompson Center for a rally and speeches.

Reverend Jackson had a group of young children with some adults march in front of him. The protesters were demanding the resignation of Mayor Emanuel and Anita Alvarez.

Joining Reverend Jackson were Reverend James Meeks, Aldermen Pat Dowell and Emma Mitts, Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, and other elected and prominent people.

The protest stretched for a city block. The demonstration was peaceful and without incidents. At the Thompson Center, various elected officials, reverends, and a union official spoke to the crowd.
