The Chicago Craft Beer Festival was held in conjunction with the annual Sheffield Garden walk this past weekend.
Saying it was mobbed is an understatement. The crowds were so thick walking down Sheffield through the festival was difficult. The cordoned off craft beer area was even more crowded. Getting a taste of beer was a test of will and patience.
People were enjoying themselves. Like most festivals in Chicago, food was the centerpiece. This festival had a great and diverse selection of food vendors. Chicago street festivals demonstrate why our city is the food capital of the nation.
North Avenue, west of Damen is undergoing a transformation. It is no longer the somewhat rough area it used to be. Oak Mill Bakery and Cafe, 2204 W. North Avenue is a great place for lunch and inexpensive bakery goods. Other restaurants and businesses are turning the street into a new and better place.
