Day after Christmas in Chicago

2013-12-26 001 007 (640x427)

It's a marshmallow world in the winter
When the snow comes to cover the ground
It's the time for play, it's a whipped cream day
I wait for it the whole year around (C. Sigman, P. De Rose.)

Christmas is over. The fridge is full of leftovers. Open gifts are on display under the tree. The food hangover is in full bloom.

Neighborhoods are quiet, resting under a blanket of fresh fallen snow.

Out of town family and guests are getting ready to leave, old crazy uncles are relegated back to the attic or basement until the next holiday gathering, and life is getting back to some semblance of normalcy.

Too soon, Christmas 2013 will be a fading memory.

The day after Christmas is the alternate big shopping day for retailers. Crowds flocked to return or exchange gifts, take advantage of post Christmas markdowns of up to 50%-to 75%. or just enjoy a day in downtown Chicago.
