The 32nd annual Northalsted Market Days was held this past weekend. The event, organized by the Northalsted Business Alliance, spread along Halsted Street, from Belmont to Addison. It was expected to draw almost 100,000 people from all over the country. From the crowds late Sunday afternoon, the 100,000 figure may be accurate. Northalsted Street Market Days is billed as the largest two day street fair in the Midwest and one of the best events in the nation.
This year's entertainment line up included acts by Wilson Phillips, 10,000 Maniacs, Lynda Carter, KRose, and Brandon James. There were 17 entrances and three main stages. The event drew over 400 unique local vendors, artists, and vendors and crafts people from around the nation, with a diverse selection of food and beverages. The vendors, appealing to an upscale crowd, also made Northalsted one of the must attend events in America.
The event was sponsored by many national and international brands including, Chicago Tribune, RedEye, Duracell, Smirnoff, New York Times, Red Bull Energy Drink, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, and the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.
