The Chicago Flower & Garden Show is the place to be if you want a taste of spring and summer during these dreary last winter days. "The Art of Gardening" is the theme this year. The show bills itself as a "useful tool for new and experienced gardeners". The show offers workshops and educational seminars, along with various vendors. Many of the displays demonstrate the ability to create a beautiful floral or green spaces in small areas- from window boxes to small box gardens.
Several innovative products were also on display running the gamut from nozzles and hoses to small garden buildings outfitted as sitting rooms. Of course there were flowers, shrubbery, trees, and other greenery everywhere you turned.
This year the promoters partnered with Garden Clubs of Illinois, American Society of Landscape Architects, and the American Institute of Floral Designers. There was a photo contest, with pictures on display and a garden themed cake decorating contest. Cake entries were displayed throughout the venue.
There were also several wine and beer tasting booths along with various other food and pastry vendors.
The Chicago Flower & Garden Show runs daily from March 9-17 at Navy Pier. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
