Chicago Chinese Lunar New Year Parade

Gung hay fat choy and Sun nien fai lok. May you be prosperous and Happy New Year. This month marks the Chinese Lunar New Year, 4711, the Year of the Snake, the Water Snake to be precise. On Sunday the annual Chicago Chinese Lunar New Year parade was held in Chicago's South Side China Town. This year also marks the 101st anniversary of the establishment of China Town.

Illinois Secretary of State and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis were on hand. WLS News anchor Linda Yu was the master of ceremonies on the grandstand.

Large crowds lined Wentworth and Archer Avenues to view the parade. Afterwards people patronized the restaurants and shops in the area.
