Although this is my holiday weekend ( I will be turning 39 on Sunday), there are two events that should be on your radar for family fun in Chicago!
- Tired of the violence in Chicago? Are you ready to take back our city while gathering with other in worship? Well, the South Side Neighborhood Gospel Fest is the event for you. As part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel' s "Summer of Faith in Action", the 17th District and Christmas in Englewood have again partnered to host one of the largest fests in Chicago. Join us (yes, my family will be there) this Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Ogden Park, located at 6500 S. Racine from 11-6 pm. There will be live music from various gospel greats, including The Chicago Mass Choir, Avery Sunshine, and Jesse Campbell of “The Voice" ! For more information call: 773-723-0908 or goto: ChistmasInEnglewood.com
- Un~Rapped is a gospel stage play being held at Trinity Christian College, located at 6601 W. College Drive in Palos Heights. For one night only, July 19th, you will be able to view a fictional story of a talented singer, raised in church, but loses his faith after a tragic event occurs. A play for all ages, this faith filled event has something for everyone. Admission is FREE. For More Information, call Barry Johnson at 773-443-2842
Other Notable Events (that I may attend also):
- House Music Night at Emmaus Community:
- Revival Month at Trinity United Church of Christ-Need I say more? Dr. Jeremiah Wright will be in the building!
