You don't need to drink to have fun.
Over the years, I've realized how true that saying is. All you need is good friends and a positive attitude, and BAM, there you have it - FUN!
Of course, it's nice to have a few drinks now and then. I like the feeling of being giggly/happy/tipsy just as much as the next college girl. But sometimes, a stone cold sober night ends up being the funnest (yes, I said funnest) of all.
Last Saturday night, my best friend Courtney brought me to her sorority's barndance. Here at U of I, we're surrounded by cornfields and farmland. So it was inevitable for some big shot at the barn company to get together with some big shot at U of I and decide to introduce college kids to the ultimate party: BARNDANCE.
Picture this: girls wearing Daisy Dukes, cowboy boots, and tied-up flannel shirts. Guys wearing overalls and carrying water bottles of alcohol. Giant tubs of beer. Hay. And a dance floor.
Welcome to barndance.
To most people, being sober at barndance sounds like a death sentence. But, alas, it was actually the best night ever. Courtney and I danced like idiots, laughed at all the drunk people, and even planked on hay. (I suck at planking, as evidenced by my improper form in that picture.) I haven't laughed that much since I watched Bridesmaids for the first time back in June.
Good times at #barndance2k11. BRAH.
