This is an event that I've enjoyed for several years. Unless you're able to experience it, you have no idea how much fun it is to have fun outdoors, enjoying the snow, ice on a lake, and the party atmosphere of Boulder Junction's Frozen Tozen. It's coming about a month from now so take the time now to plan ahead to spend a fun weekend in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Boulder Junction’s 9th Annual Frozen Tozen, will be held on Friday, February 17 & Saturday, February 18 along with the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club’s Breakfast on Sunday, February 19.
The weekend kicks off Friday evening from 6pm to 9pm at Boulder Junction Winter Park, located on Old Hwy K, with a bonfire, ice skating, sledding, music and hot beverages.
On Saturday, the Frozen Tozen Ice Fishing Tournament will take place on Boulder Lake. New this year are cash prizes in addition to locally handcrafted wooden awards plaques! $300 for the largest fish, $100 for the most accumulated inches to adult entrants, $100 for the most accumulated inches to junior entrants and $100 for the most accumulated inches to a team. Awards will be presented under the tent at Boulder Lake at 4:30pm.
Registration begins at 7am under the tent at the Boulder Lake boat landing located on Airport Road, with walk-in registrations welcome throughout the day. The tournament runs from 8am-4pm. At only $30 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under, the tournament is fun and affordable for everyone. Your individual registration also includes registration in the team tournament. Teams can include 2 to 4 individuals, so bring your friends. All tournament entrants will receive a ticket for door prize drawings and the first 20 registered will receive 6 complimentary raffle tickets. Tournament proceeds benefit the Boulder Junction Area Boat Landing Improvement Fund.
In addition to the ice fishing, raffle drawings will be drawn all afternoon, there will be a Mardi Gras themed ice shanty/fishing station contest, snow sculpting contest & kids activities from 12pm to 2pm, along with music, food and beverages. There is no charge to enter the fishing station contest or the snow sculpting contest. We do ask that children and adults bring their own supplies for the snow sculpting.
Tickets for the raffle will be available at the Boulder Junction Chamber, Gooch’s A-1 Bar & Grill, Boulder Beer Bar, The Granary Family Restaurant, Headwaters Restaurant & Tavern and Northern Highland Sports. The grand prize will be a weekend travel package valued at over $400 that includes breakfast for two at The Outdoorsman, dinner for two at Aqualand Alehouse, two nights stay at Boulder Bear Motor Lodge and a $25 gift certificate at Coontail. Many other fantastic prizes will also be raffled off. Tickets are just $1.00 each or six for $5.00. As with the tournament proceeds, the raffle will also benefit the Boulder Junction Boat Landing Improvement Fund.
On Sunday, be sure to stop in, by sled or by automobile, to the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Breakfast held at Headwaters Restaurant & Tavern between 8am to 11am. Proceeds from the breakfast benefit the trail maintenance performed by our hardworking club throughout the winter months.
There’s something for everyone at the 9th Annual Frozen Tozen. We look forward to seeing you in Boulder Junction February 17, 18 and/or 19!
