The 26th annual Illinois Deer & Turkey Expo, the state’s premier consumer expo for hunting and outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts presented by Field & Stream and Outdoor Life magazines, is returning to Bloomington, Ill., for three days of all things deer and turkey hunting Aug. 12-14 at the Interstate Center at the McLean County Fairgrounds.
A bolstered exhibitor variety, hands-on activities and the expanded series of deer hunting-focused seminars from experts in the field highlight the three-day event.
Hundreds of hunting exhibitors and outfitter booths will be available for deer and turkey enthusiasts. Attendees can test the latest bows on the market at the expanded bow tryout area. Seminars will be held all three days, hosted by experts who have dedicated time and energy to provide cutting-edge information topics including habitat management, hunting pressured whitetails, food plots, a wide variety of deer and turkey hunting techniques, plus hunting for sheds with dogs and do-it-yourself venison processing, and more.
Local sportsman can enter their best deer from any season for an official score and display in the Trophy Deer Contest and Display, and participants receive a discounted weekend pass for only $20.
Flint knapping demonstrations will be held daily in the primitive weapons and tools display. A Wild Mushroom Hunting Info Center will be hosted by Tom Nauman of Morel Mania, Inc. Additionally, world-famous archer Byron Ferguson will be performing his archery trick shooting show throughout the weekend. Attendees even have the chance to compete against Ferguson with a hoverball shooting booth.
Everyone in the family will enjoy watching dogs run down a 40-foot platform and dive into a pool of water, jumping as high, far and fast as they can to land the top spot in an exciting competition show. Attendees are encouraged to register and compete with their dogs.
Attendees will have the chance to test-drive the new Nissan Titan XD and meet outdoor personalities Stan Potts, of Whitetail Explorer TV, and Pat and Nicole Reeve, of Driven TV. Other highlights include interactive airgun, archery and bowfishing ranges; a trail camera photo display; live game animals and predators; chainsaw carving demonstrations; Bad Boy Off Road demo area; and a new products display area.
Daily event hours are: Friday, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
