Northwoods News

Been a while since my friend in the Northwoods sent over a newsletter to share.  It's good to see that spring is coming and all is well up north.  I'll be heading up there soon, but for now, I'll tend to my cabin fever by enjoying a cup of coffee and reading about wha't's going on up north.

North Woods Newsletter

April in the Northwoods,,,

The mud month of the north woods. There is an adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The woods can be seen as "kinda ugly" or breath taking beautiful right now. We choose to enjoy the beautiful side. The entire north woods transitions from deep snow to summer blooms. But to have summer beauty, there is a giant meteorological tug of war. 55 degrees one day, 15 the next. Frozen driveway one day, mud hole the next. Bright blue sky's, rain or snow. Always a surprise in the north woods.

We are closed, like many other businesses. How do we spend the time off? We dust, we clean, we re-arrange. We plot and plan for the summer season. We immerse ourselves in our numbers; find our best sellers, the hours/days that we are busy, try to figure out what drives our business from one season to the next. What have we learned so far? We generate over 75% of our business from early June to the middle of August. Our restaurant business continues to grow, and the more "boutique" our grocery items are, the more YOU enjoy them.

It also looks like people REALLY like our events. Fund raisers like the LOLA Gala and Ride with Leinie. In house events like the Wednesday Wine and Thursday beer tastings, and our classroom wine education nights. Watch for schedules in future newsletters.

This month we will showcase some of the other businesses that shake things up in the area. We have included hot links to many cool Facebook pages!

We will hold off until the May newsletter to announce all of our new summer items, please trust that we are working hard to have the items, events and hours of operation that represent what our customers have shown us they want.

We look forward to seeing you when we re-open. Until then you can help us. If you have family or friends that may enjoy receiving our newsletter, simply click on the button below and you can automatically add them to our email distribution list.
