Northwoods News

A week  has past since I was in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  Already I wish I was back and enjoying the great fishing I experienced.  I have to give some credit to my fishing success to Mark at the Forest Lake Country Store.  One time over breakfast he and I went over a map book and Mark showed me a few lakes to try.  I've been going to these lakes again and again on every visit and having much success.

My wife Judy and I stopped in for breakfast one day and I had my favorite, #16.   Judy had a #7 because she loves the French Toast make with their homemade bread.  Another day we stopped in for lunch.  I had what I call a typical Northwoods Lunch.  Three softshelled tacos and a bowl of stuffed pepper soup.   Judy had a full bowl.  It was great.  Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.  I want to go back.  Well, maybe later on this summer.

For now though I'll have to get my Northwoods fix by checking out the Forest Lake Country Store newsletter for July.  Check out the few photos I plugged in here then see the newsletter that follows.

Cabins are filling up in the north woods.  Seasonal residents are here and enjoying the north woods.  Weekend warriors are also on the second or third round of trips to Land O’ Lakes.  All the businesses up north get great support from the people that call Land O’ Lakes home all year.  It is the summer residents and the weekend vacationers that allow every business to “make our winter wood”!  Please stop in when you arrive in the north woods. We are anxious to show off our new items, see old friends and catch up on your family affairs.  The reality of a hard winter is washed away with the miles of smiles from the summer visitors, old acquaintances made anew.

New in the Store
Donuts and Cinnamon rolls have a new home!  We have moved these sweets to a self serve display case next to the coffee pots.  There are tissues and plates if you need a single donut to eat at your table and white bags if you are packing a larger assortment to go.

What replaced the bakery case is our new tap beer refrigerator.  If you would like a tap beer with your lunch or dinner we are offering three different brews.

In the dry goods area we continue to find great taste treats.  We have a double chocolate cookie from Tates, a Roasted Tomato cracker and Finn Crisp rye crackers are back in stock.  We still are selling a ton of the “hull-less” popcorns, salsa’s and the Amish jam.

And then we have many other unique services.  Free Wifi.  If it is your first time in our pass code is flcsone1.  We also do a great job on large bakery orders.  Give us a day or two notice and we will make large quantities of donuts for a family outing, lake association picnic or any other group.   Last, and certainly not least, is our Take-n-Bake pizzas.  We will build your pizza and you can make it at home late at night.  Stop in or phone in and we will have your order ready for your at home dining.  Beat the backlog on pizza orders by having us build you take n bakes to eat at home!
