A good day on the Niagara River

While in the Niagara area of  New York, I had the opportunity to fish with fellow outdoor writer Curt Hicken from southern Illinois.  We fished the Niagara River with Captain Jeff Draper of Draper Sportfishing and Gerry Benedicto, General Manager of Seaguar Fishing Line.

Although I didn't get a fish that, I was okay with it.  I had a blast getting out on the water and being able to snap some photos and get a great TV show for Illinois Outdoors TV.

Capt. Draper put us on fish us on fish in the cold and fast moving waters of the Lower Niagara River.  We used three way rigs, also known as Wolf River Rigs using 1.5 to 2 ounce weights on a short dropper and a five foot Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and a small octopus hook tipped with a river shiner.

With the river having a strong current, these were hard fighting fish for sure.

The TV show will air in early June, but for now, enjoy a few of the photos.
